Chasing Shadows
the Vincent HRD Story
'Chasing Shadows' is the story of two visionary motorcycle engineers: Philip Vincent and Phil Irving and the quintessential British motorcycle they built and perfected during the golden era of the British motorcycle industry. It was Irving and Vincent who built the immortal 'Black Shadow'; a motorcycle whose formidable performance was matched only by the legend that grew around it.
Now rarely seen on the road, the Vincent has an almost mythical status and yet its story has never been told on film. Two and a half years in the making and the subject of pains-taking research, 'Chasing Shadows' will be a definitive marque history: offering vividly shot sequences of all the 'prime iron' that passed through the factory gates, interviews with Vincenteers of all breeds and creeds and a unique offering of stills and archival film - much of it shot by Vincent himself - of his machines at rest and in full song on the track.
Included in 'Chasing Shadows' is Vincent's fascinating personal film record of his company's attempts at Montlhery circuit to take the record for the first motorcycle to average 100 m.p.h. for 24 hours. And, amongst the brief, flickering images of the riders may be seen a very youthful John Surtees...
