Eudora mail Configuration

Overview:

This document outlines how to configure Eudora Pro Email V4.1 for Windows using the New Account Wizard.

Additionally, please ensure the box titled "Leave on mail server" is not checked. Also, please be sure to check the box Entitled "Delete from server when emptied from trash".

Again, the above information only applies to the mcb mail server. If you use an email server other than mcb, please substitute the above information with options appropriate to your server. Generally, depending on your network connection, you may acquire the information from one of three sources: (1) your departmental computer support specialist, (2) your network administrator or (3) your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

If this is the first time you installed Eudora Pro on your machine, a series of windows titled New Account Wizard will launch the first time you start Eudora. This series of windows help you configure your email account.

However, if you upgraded from a previous version of Eudora, Eudora Pro 4.1 will inherit your email settings from your previous installation. Therefore, the installer will not launch the New Account Wizard.

Therefore, if the New Account Wizard starts after launching Eudora, please follow steps 3 through 11 outlined below. On the other hand, if the Wizard does not start, you are probably finished with the installation and you may simply start using Eudora Pro.

The remainder of these instructions walk you through the New Account Wizard for a first time installation of any version of Eudora on your computer. However, you may run the New Account Wizard at any time byfollowing the instructions below:

After starting the New Account Wizard, please proceed from step 4 of the instructions listed below.

  1. Start Eudora Pro. Using the Start button, the program is usually located in a folder titled "Eudora Pro" under "Programs" (see below).
  2. Preferably, Eudora Pro should be the default email program on your computer. Therefore, if you see the following window after starting Eudora, please click the button titled Yes.
  3. The first window of the New Account Wizard is titled Welcome to Eudora Pro. Simply click the button labeled Next.
  4. The next window is titled Account Settings. Select "Create a brand new email account" and click the Next button.
  5. In the Personal Information window, please type your real name. As described in the window, this name will appear in the "From" field of your outgoing messages. After entering your real name, please click the Next button.
  6. In the E-Mail Address window, enter your full email address. After entering your address, click the Next button.
  7. In the Login Name window, please enter the login name for your account. This is the text to the left of the @ symbol in your email address. Click the Next button.
  8. In the window titled Incoming E-Mail Server, enter the full name of your POP server. If your are using mcb as your incoming email server, please enter mail.mcb.net. After entering the server name, select the click-button labeled POP. Click the Next button.
  9. In the window titled Outgoing E-Mail Server, please enter the full name of your SMTP server. If your are using mcb as your POP server, please enter mail.mcb.net. Click the Next button.
  10. At this point, you should have successfully configured your email account. The last window of the New Account Wizard is titled Success. In this window, please click the button labeled Finish.
