Email account setup in Outlook Express
Incoming and outgoing mail servers
To begin, launch Outlook Express by:
clicking on Start button
select All Programs
from the programs list, select Outlook Express


When Outlook Express opens, it will ask if you want to make it your default e-mail client.
Select Yes if you are going to use it as your default e-mail client.

To configure Outlook Express for your e-mail account, click on Tools and select Accounts
If the Internet Connection Wizard starts up automatically, skip the next 2 steps


The Internet Accounts screen will be displayed. The items in this list can be ignored.

Click Add button and select Mail

The Your Name screen will be displayed, enter the display name as you want it to appear to everyone who gets email from you and click Next

The Internet E-mail Address screen will be displayed.
Enter your e-mail address as shown below "your email address@iommail.com"
Click the Next button to continue

The E-mail Server Names screen is displayed (below)
From the Server drop down box select IMAP
In the Incoming Mail Server box enter:
mail.iommail.com
In the Outgoing Mail Server box enter:
mail.iommail.com
click the Next button to continue

The Internet Mail Logon screen will be displayed.
enter your Account name . This is the same as your email address. e.g johnsmith@iommail.com
This is also known as your userid or NetID
Enter your password
Note: if you want Outlook Express to save your password, click the check box Remember password . Anyone using this computer will have access to your e-mail.
click the Next button to continue.

The Internet Accounts screen will be displayed again. We are going to rename the new account just created to something that makes more sense.
Click on the Mail tab on the top and select the new account that you just created (e.g mail.iommail.com)
Click Properties

The IMAP Account Properties for the account you selected in the previous step will open
On the General tab screen
Change the name of the account from mail.iommail.com to something like IMAP Account or IMAP Folders so it will be easier to identify if you have more than one email address set up

Now, click the Advanced tab. DO NOT click Apply and OK yet.
DO NOT tick "This server requires a secure connection on SMTP or IMAP
Server Timeouts move the slider all the way to the right to "Long" so it changes to 5 minutes

Now, click the IMAP tab. DO NOT click Apply and OK yet.
Enter the Root folder path as Inbox
Enter the Sent items path to Sent (delete items and the space)
Leave Drafts as Drafts
These paths will make your IMAP folders that you see in Outlook Express the same folders that you would see if you were to log in to Web Mail.
They will be the same folders that actually exist on the server.
Now click Apply and OK

The Internet Accounts will will re-open.
The account name has changed from mail.iommail.com to IMAP Folders or whatever you chose to name it.
Now click the Close button.

Outlook Express will now ask you if you want to download the folders from the mail server you added, click the Yes button.

The Show/Hide IMAP Folders screen will be displayed.
click the OK button

Outlook Express will be open displaying the Local Folders and the IMAP Folders . This is important to understand.
Local Folders exist on the computer you are working on;
IMAP Folders exist on the server but are displayed and accessible through Outlook Express.
If you logged on to Web Mail, these folders would be displayed in your Web Mail screen.

Outlook Express has now been configured to use IMAP. Send your self a test message to ensue it is working as expected.
