It is commonly held belief that Vikings had horns on their helmets, but this was not actually the case.
In 1979 during millenium year (the celebrarion of 1000 years home rule) a viking boat called Odin's Raven was sailed from Norway to the Isle of Man as part of the Millenium celebrations. The Odin's Raven is now housed in Peel after its epic voyage.
Peel still holds charity Viking longboat races in July each year with many local companies entering teams.
